Chewing gum can help reduce acid in the esophagus. This is because chewing itself can increase saliva production, which will make you swallow more. When this happens, it allows any acids in your mouth to clear quickly. Try chewing bicarbonate gum, as this can help neutralize the acid in your esophagus.
